Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,728 Cattle, consisting of 1,333 Prime Cattle and 2,395Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 212 Bullocks, 129 Heifers, 524 Cows and 468 Bulls & Males. The Store section consisted of 1,401 Steers, 922 Heifers, 17 PTIC Heifers and 55 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of larger lines of Ox and well-covered conditioned Cows. With large lines of quality store Steers and Heifers that sold to a competitive market. The yarding was drawn from Hughenden, Croydon, Greenvale, Mt Garnet as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes:

Bullocks were quoted 10¢ easier, Heifers were 10-15¢ easier, Cows were 20¢ easier and Bulls were 20¢ easier, on last week’s rates.

• Bullocks topped at 260.2¢/kg sold on a/c AS & JL Pemble, Southernview, Charters Towers that weighed 513kg to return a $1,333 per head.

• Best priced trade Heifers were presented on a/c Cliff Mosch, Shrimp Creek, Einasleigh that sold for 242.2¢/kg and weighed 363kg to return $878 per head.

• The top pen of Cows was sold by a/c TG & BS Mitchell, for 197.2¢/kg, weighing 526kg to return $1,036 per head.

• Bulls sold on a/c Barragunda Pastoral, topped at 246.2¢/kg and weighed 790kg, to return $1,944 per head.

Store Quotes:

A larger number of quality store Cattle were presented at this week’s sale, with increased competition for better quality lines for both Steers and Heifers. Mickeys stayed at a similar rate throughout the sale which was stronger than last week’s sale.

 • A pen of 11 Steers a/c Robert Dahl, Mungurin Station, Giru made 334.2¢/kg and weighed 248kg, returning an average of $828 per head.

• A good pen of 36 Heifers on a/c Valpre Grazing, Charters Towers made 290.2¢/kg, weighed 242kg returning $701 per head.

• 24 Cows & Calves sold on a/c MGS Pastoral, Junction Creek, Charters Towers and returned $1,200 per unit.
