Charters Towers Sale

Were you at the record breaking sale in Charters Towers on Wednesday 22nd June?

CHARTERS TOWERS COMBINED AGENTS PRIME AND STORE SALE
Wednesday – 22nd June, 2016
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,977 hd.
Cattle consisting of 714 Prime Cattle and 1263 Store Cattle.
The Prime Cattle consisted of 67 Bullocks, 48 Heifers, 558 Cows and 41 Bulls.
Store Cattle yarded 663 Steers, 431 Heifers, 163 Mickeys and 6 Cows & Calves.
Prime Cattle this week comprised of a shortage of Bullocks that were of mixed quality that sold to an improved market and a very good line up of cows that sold to solid competition with 6 meat processors in attendance.
The yarding was drawn from Chillagoe, Forsayth, Normanton, Croydon, Pentland, Greenvale, Collinsville, local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were quoted 8-10¢ dearer, Heifers were 10-12¢ dearer, Cows were 10-12¢ dearer on last week’s rates.

 

Bullocks topped at 294.2¢/kg for 2 good bullocks sold on a/c Est. SJ O’Sullivan, “Bundabaroo”, Belyando that weighed 560kg to return $1647 per head.
Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on a/c Ken Peace which made 251.2¢/kg to weigh 480kg and return $1205 per head.
The top pen of Cows were sold by RJ, JJ & SR Hyden, “Old Victoria Downs”, Charters Towers for 270.2¢/kg and weighed 496kg to return $1341 per head.
Bulls sold on a/c Cunningham Cattle Co. “Esmeralda”, Richmond averaged 258.2¢/kg and weighed 690kg to return $1781 per head.
Store Quotes:
Store Cattle were of a very good quality that sold to levels never seen in Charters Towers, there was a large buyers gallery with most people impressed with the quality of cattle offered.

Standing room only at the Sale lanes were full.
