A landmark beef industry partnership

Current herd of over 135,000 head of cattle, including 70,000 breeders,

Australian Country Choice (ACC) and Acton Land & Cattle Company (Actons) are proud to announce a transaction that will result in a joint venture (.11/), between the two companies.

In a land mark beef industry deal completed in Brisbane on Friday 10th July, the Lee Family owners of Australian Country Choice (ACC) and the Acton Family owners of Acton Land & Cattle Company have formed a new joint venture Company, to lease the Barkly Downs, Millungera, Croydon, Rugby Run, Moray Downs and fifty cattle properties, including ongoing management of the properties and ownership of the cattle herd.

The combination of Australian Country Choice, one of the world's largest vertically integrated beef supply chain organizations, with the Acton Land & Cattle Company's existing operations will provide significant new scale and synergies to reinforce the existing large scale backgrounding operations to supply the Australian Country Choice group feedlots in southern Queensland.
With a current herd of over 135,000 head of cattle, including 70,000 breeders, the formation of the JV by these two prominent Queensland cattle families will create a new supply chain platform from these high quality livestock, tailored to suit the ACC operations.

An integral and significant part of this transaction is the Lee Family's purchase of the renowned and highly
Acclaimed Barkly Downs cattle station from the Acton Family. At over 9,200 square kilometers in land holding, Barkly Downs is regarded as one of the blue ribbon cattle breeding operations in the Australian Beef industry and prior to the Acton Land & Cattle Company taking ownership in 2004 its previous owners have included notable pastoral companies such as Stanbroke; QNTP and King Ranch.
The new venture will be run as a standalone business and the Directors have appointed Ben Dwyer from ACC as its inaugural Chief Operating Officer. In this new hands on role, Ben will work closely with the Acton
Families across group properties to optimize current production and shape the operation into a more dedicated domestic market feedlot supply chain model.
