Beef Australia teams with Big Country Brahman Sale.

This is the first time that the triennial event has been launched in a regional centre

Beef Australia officially launched at Big Country Brahman Sale.

Beef Australia 2021 was officially launched by the Hon. David Littleproud MP, Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management before a large gathering of cattle producers at the Annual Big Country Brahman Sale in Charters Towers on Tuesday.

This is the first time that the triennial event has been launched in a regional centre, something the beef team thought very appropriate. “Every three years Beef Australia presents the largest beef cattle show in the southern hemisphere, with a major percentage of our exhibitors, participants and visitors coming from the Australian agricultural industry,” stated Chairman Bryce Camm. “So, it is fitting that we have delivered our first official activity in a Queensland town so intrinsically connected with our beef sector.”

The large gathering of cattle men and women, many of whom have already made plans to attend Beef 2021, were reminded that the gates will swing open at the Rockhampton Showgrounds in around just 80 days. The Beef Australia staff and event committees have been working for many months to present a program that will offer a broad range of entertainment, and educational and informative offerings.

The cattle component of the expo encompassing stud, commercial and carcase competitions has once again been warmly accepted, with strong nominations in all areas. This year will see all stud cattle housed together in a breed precinct covering some eleven acres of the showgrounds, providing an opportunity for visitors to view the ‘best of the best’ of each breed side by side, and allow producers to benchmark their individual animals.

The chance to partner with the Big Country Brahman Sale agents was an opportunity heartily embraced by Beef Australia, recognising the importance and value of the significant sale, the largest stud cattle auction sale conducted in Northern Australia.

“This is the twenty-eighth year of the Big Country Brahman Sale, which is just slightly younger than the Beef Australia exposition,” CEO Ian Mill said. “We congratulate Ken McCaffrey, Jim Geaney and the Queensland Rural team for producing and delivering such a successful and professional sale for over a quarter of a century. Looking through the list of sale vendors and buyers, I recognise many of the names of these people and studs that will also be represented at our event in May. So, it’s a great chance to catch up with so many of our attendees at this North Queensland launch, officiated by Minister Littleproud.”

All Beef 2021 tickets including gate entry, social activities and educational programs are on sale now, at beefaustralia.com.au. So mark it in your diaries, and join the tens of thousands of people that will flood through the Rockhampton Showgrounds gate across the week of May 2 to 8.
