Brahman Breeders $210,000 for Northern Donation

Sensational result by the Brahman breed

Brahman Breeders $210,000 for Northern Disaster Donation

Top price bull in the semen auction was NCC Lord Delaware. There were 5 straws available and avg $1620 per straw to gross $8100.

This is the first time his semen has been offered to the wider community. It was donated by 2AM and Palmal Studs, David and Andrew McCamley. These studs have 240 progeny from him. Delaware progeny are very stylish cattle with good bone and sound temperament. His first sons sold in 2018 to av $37,500.

David said in an earlier interview "A few people have been asking for the semen but we wanted to keep it to ourselves. We decided to donate it now just to help the people in that area out."

Joy Newman from Rathlyn Stud, Emerald donated 10 lots of semen from Tartrus Redmount. This semen was very popular and grossed $20,205.

On top of the $115,829 raised by the semen auction ABBA has also donated a further $5000. A nice donation of $40,276 to each of the 3 charities we have chosen to support. Sisters of the North, Qld Country Woman’s Assoc and BlazeAid.

There has also been some wonderful fundraising by other members of the Brahman community.
The Rocky All Stars Elite Female Sale raised $22,000 to go to Sisters of the North. Several vendors sold 50% share of the proceeds of their heifers and another successful semen sale was run there too. V8 ranch donated semen to this sale with Bob, Steve Hudgins and Mark Forgensen donating semen to the ABBA sale.

Hazelton Brahmans, board member Brett Kirk and family, donated a pen of commercial Brahman Cows that avg $1569/hd to gross $15,690. All funds raised going to the QCWA Rural Disaster Fund.

Bos Indicus Cattle Co, Jesse Zischke, has loaned 50 grey brahman heifers to Ray and Janice Fleming, Nosilla Brahmans, Broadlands Station, McKinlay.

On Wednesday 3rd Atkinson Developments, Tim and Megan Atkinson of Lucky Downs Station, Greenvale donated the proceeds of 114 Red Brahman Heifers to the NW Qld charities for a gross of $50,050.

I know several breeders have also donated heifers to fellow breeders.

Our President Matthew McCamley sent choppers and men up in the early days to help with feeding the cattle.

Fiona Skinner from NK Brahman Stud is helping a group called Re-stocking of the NW. Putting cattle, horses and dogs together to send up to those that have lost so much.

Adam Gunthorpe arranged hay to be taken up to them.

Jenny McCamley works for Flo Australia and she arranged for them to also send a load of hay.

Chris Norris from Elite Livestock Auctions donated his platform for us to use.

Our local semen businesses in Rocky have also donated their fees for movement of the semen. Rocky Repro and Beef Breeding Services.

These are only the ones that I know of. I am sure there are many more.

“Our Brahman Breeders understand how many of our stud and commercial breeders have been effected by this terrible disaster and the extent of loss of cattle following 6 years of drought. It is also fully understood what a terrible toll on those effected this disaster has been emotionally and this is why this auction has been such a great success for all effected in the North West. All the Brahman Breeders who donated, bought and underbidders need to be congratulated for their solidarity with those effected. “
