CQLX YARDED 5337 EMERALD YARDED 5918
MARKET REPORT
WEANER & FEEDER FEATURE SALE
TUESDAY 2ND JUNE 2020
The Emerald Livestock Selling Association were extremely proud to offer 5920 head for the first Feature Sale of 2020, setting a new record for the Emerald Selling Centre.
Whilst the yarding was largely from the more immediate area, there was consignments from further afield including Malanda, Woodstock & Nebo.
Quality and presentation (albeit slightly mixed) for the most part was of a high standard & on par with previous June sales.
However given the tough summer & start to the 2020 the overall weight was lacking for many vendors.
The buyer panel may not have had the depth of personal as has at times been experienced, local support was potentially at an all time low however new buyer accounts and support from further afield pushed prices for most categories past any records previously set at ELSC.
Support came from many regions including, Casino, Moree, Goondiwindi, Townsville, Kingaroy, Wandoan, Roma, and more locally Moura, Theodore, Rolleston & Alpha. Feeder Steers; light or heavy sold exceptionally well to peak at 393c for the heavier end and 410c in the lighter end to record averages around 380c.
Feeder heifers; lacked the sting of their brothers, the best heavy heifers to 358c and those under 400kg topped at 354c to a/v 338c.
Weaner steers; came alight to peak at 458c for those between 200/280kg to a/v 429c and steers under 200kg sold 452c to a/v 421c.
Weaners heifers; peaked at 396c to a/v 361c those under 200kg made to 386c to a/v 345c.
All in all a huge success for all parties involved with special mentions to the buyers that travelled and made the effort to support the sale & the huge efforts put in by CHRC and Klan Contracting staff and representatives.
