Grand final Fever

Cowboys deserved to be in the Grand final

Jim Pola column

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys deserved to be in the Grand final this year through sheer guts and determination, people are comparing Johnathan Thurston as the best player ever seen in the game, look don't get me wrong I believe he is the best in the modern game of Rugby League we have had some cracker players decades ago no matter what Thurston gives 100% and more every game.

How good were the Cowboys on Saturday night they now no how to hit the lead and stay there, they looked very smart when they got the ball.

The only problem on Grand finial day is the blokes upstairs and the man in the middle they won't know who to give the plenty to when there is no N.S.W. playing on the day.

I was listening to talk back radio today they were in Brisbane asking people who they were going for on grand final day not many said Broncos Aussies love the underdog Broncos have never been beaten in the six final appearances.

This could be Wayne Bennett's fairy-tale year what a coach this mans is incredible the way he motivates player's to turbocharge themselves to another level, and I have to agree with his comments on where the Grand Finial should be played.

Wayne Bennett was right in what he said he believed Sydney should remain the grand final host.
"Yeah I have no problem with that," he said.
"It's where the grand final has always been played, it's the biggest city in Australia — why wouldn't you play the grand final there?
"But I have appreciated what has happened up here.
"It was the first preliminary final the Broncos have played at home.
"But Sydney should still host the grand final in my opinion."
Broncos have a perfect 6-0 grand final record.
But Bennett did concede there was no place like home.
"To think we filled the stadium both nights and played the football that we have, it's a pretty special relationship between the fans and the players," Bennett said of their Suncorp Stadium faithful.
"And it doesn't get much better than right now.
"Queensland should be proud."
