How Cost Efficient are you when Processing Cattle?

Would you like to Save 100K on Labour!

Have you ever considered the man hours wasted due to poor cattle handling equipment? When purchasing any new equipment, a motor vehicle or any other type of machinery, the purchase price does not necessarily reflect the efficiency.

Take the purchase price of a well-built manual cattle crush at say $10,000, this has a working lifespan of about 120,000 head. Compare this to a Silencer Hydraulic crush at say $30,000 and has a working lifespan of over 300,000 head.

This means the capital cost of both equipment over the working life span is exactly the same at around 10 cents per animal processed. This only compares the capital cost and does not measure efficiency.

Efficiency gain can only be measured by comparing how many animals you can efficiently and safely process in a given period of time.

Take a manual crush, with good yard flow and a good crew, you should be able to process somewhere around 120 head per hour. Now, take the same crew working cattle through a Silencer Hydraulic crush and comfortably and efficiently processing over 200 animals per hour.

This is being achieved with one less labour unit and the crew now processing 50 percent more cattle per hour. This equates to an efficiency gain of over $100,000 in saved labour costs over the working life span of a Silencer Hydraulic crush.

Not only have you saved a labour costs and reduced total labour units, cattle are out of the yards quicker, processed with less bruising and stress, and staff injuries are greatly reduced.
