German pianist Davide Martello, drove 400 miles to play played an emotional rendition of John Lennon's 'Imagine' at the site of one of the deadly Paris attacks that quickly went viral.
He played Imagine outside the Bataclan Concert Hall of one of the attacks occurred.
Martello has previously been recognised by the European parliament for his “outstanding contribution to European cooperation and the promotion of common values”.
According to his website, his goal is to “play in every capital of the world with his grand piano”.
“I can’t bring people back but I can inspire them with music and when people are inspired they can do anything.
That’s why I played Imagine.”
“I got to the end of playing Imagine and just couldn’t carry on,” he said. “Even if I wanted to it was just too emotional.”
Martello’s piano tribute was just one in several instances of people turning to music to help them process the Paris attacks. (The Guardian)
