COMMERCIAL CATTLE COMPETITION

Congratulations to Robert & Donna Rea of Lisgar Pastoral Company for winning the "Most Successful Exhibitor" at the 2019 Northern Beef Producers Expo Commercial Cattle Competition! Representing Queensland Rural are Nick Malone & Dave Halstead

Total yarding of 242 head.

Cattle consisted of 152 Prime Cattle and 90 Store Cattle.

The Prime Cattle consisted of 70 Bullocks, 20 Heifers and 62 Cows.

Store Cattle consisted of 70 Steers and 20 Heifers.

Cattle consisted of show quality Cattle with well finished Bullocks and Cows as well as quality Feeder Cattle.

The yarding was drawn from Georgetown, Mt Coolon, Belyando, Home Hill, Torrens Creek as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes:
Heavy Bullocks were quoted as 25¢ dearer, Heifers were 50¢ dearer, Cows were 20¢ dearer compared to last week’s rates.

• Bullocks topped at 294.2¢/kg, sold on a/c Fletchervale, that weighed 655kg to return $1,927  per head.

• Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on a/c Fletchervale, that sold for 253.2¢/kg and weighed 550kg to return $1,392 per head.

• The top pen of Cows were sold by GA Warre, for 193.2¢/kg and weighed 660kg to return $1,275 per head.

Store Quotes:
Store Cattle consisted of mainly heavier weight Cattle suited to Feed or Export.

• A pen of 5 Steers a/c Strathmore Exports, made 287.2¢/kg and weighed 482kg, returning an average of $1,384 per head.

• A good pen of 5 Heifers a/c Kanda NT Pty Ltd, made 220.2¢/kg, weighed 388kg & returned an average of $854 per head.
