Cambodia is one of the world’s poorest nations. All rural families dream to own a cow but the reality is that most families will never be able to afford one.
Cows for Cambodia is essentially a “COW BANK”. We loan families a pregnant cow, they must look after it and when it has the baby they get to keep the baby and we take our cow back. It’s more about providing an opportunity to break the poverty cycle rather than a direct handout.
The success of this project has been overwhelming, so much so that the long term goal is to have 1,000 cows in the project which will make Cows for Cambodia one of Asia’s biggest Agriculture charity projects. But they need your help!!!!

Ross and Natalie Olive of Olive Brahmans got an offer to buy their prize show winning Brahman cow, they had to be persuaded to sell.

The offer came from Torch Thai Farming Corporation and Ross said one of the only benefits to losing such a "fantastic cow" was breaking a national record.

Selling Olive Lady Adelaide and her calf for $80,000 before Sydney's Royal Easter Show in 2014 after she also recently took out the Brahman Grand Champion Cow at Brisbane's Ekka.

Ross said talks about the champion cow's sale started in March, after the Thai company bought more than 200 cows from Olive Brahmans.

He said Olive Lady Adelaide's new owner was hoping to promote Brahman cattle in Thailand and had already recorded some promotional footage of her.

The Thai company has selected another 200 cows from Olive Brahmans and Ross hoped trading with the country would help Australia's cattle industry.

"I'm hoping it will open a few doors to Thailand and give a little bit of hope and confidence to a depressed market," Ross said.

And he believes Olive Brahmans will continue to strengthen their relationship with Torch Thai Farming Corporation after Olive Lady Adelaide is sent to Thailand around Christmas.

"They'll do a very good job over there. "They've obviously got a vision for her."

Natalie Olive says the first round of cattle that travelled to Thailand are doing well in their new home.

"Over 216 have successfully been transported already to Thailand, so they're quite young heifers, they're quite light.

"They've landed in Thailand already and we've already seen them in Thailand. They're growing very well and they've got beautiful facilities for them.

"So we're very happy where our animals have gone."

Ms Olive says it's been a great opportunity for the stud, and they are hoping they can export more cattle and genetics in the future.
