The Coronation Stakes
Congratulations Shane Stafford
Shane this morning .
Well my bonnie filly Cercene reached the peak today in the £675,000 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
What a humbling experience but I have kept faith in this filly & training staff to be rewarded unbelievably.
To receive the Trophy from King Charles was an honour and we chatted about cattle way too long for the TV apparently.
Lovely man and I nearly fell over when he told me he loved Eidsvold a mere 35 mile from Hometown Monto.
Spoke about the Joyces & Santa Gertrudis cattle.
So easy to chat with, some honour as I said.
Not sure from here but will let it soak in and appreciate the win & experience.
A lifetime achievement from a lifetime ambition.
Aim high & the dream may come true.
Thank you Cercene & the Murphy family and my associated friends involved & my family.
Cercene is a 3yo ch Filly from Ireland trained by J G Murphy, who is based at Tipperary.
It is sired by the stallion Australia out of the dam Tschierschen.
Cercene has managed to win 2 races in its career so far.
The 33-1 outsider Cercene triumphed in a thrilling finish to become the longest-priced winner of the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
On 20th Jun 2025 at Royal Ascot, Cercene was ridden by G F Carroll and scored its most significant win to date, getting the money in the $713921.00 Cl1, defeating Zarigana.
It has proven a profitable horse for the punters over the journey. If you had backed Cercene throughout its career you'd have achieved a 421 percent return on investment.
