WORLD BRAHMAN CONGRESS AUSTRALIA 2016
18th World Brahman Congress, May 16-21, 2016 in Rockhampton, Queensland.
The growth and development of Brahman cattle in Australia has been described as the greatest livestock revolution in history.
From an initial importation in 1933 of just 18 head of Brahman cattle from the USA, Brahman genetics today can be found in over 50% of the National herd and over 75% of the herd in the state of Queensland. There are over a 100,000 Brahman bulls working north of the Tropic of Capricorn, 70% of the bulls working in that area, requiring an annual replacement of about 20,000 head.
Brahman cattle play a major role in the supply chain of Australian domestic and premium beef export markets such as Japan and the European Union and are the breed of choice for Australia’s live export markets to feedlots in Asia.
