Waihaorunga has an excellent mix of country and would be considered some of the better quality grazing country in the district. The majority of the soil is dark with plenty of depth and there is a nice blend of pebbly downs that is lightly shaded. The grass and herbages on the pebbly downs would respond quickly from good rainfall and the grass on the heavy chocolate soil would stay green for a long time after good rainfall. Quality country that could be used for breeding or fattening both cattle or sheep.
