Westward Ho
Westward Ho is approximately 28,351 acres of gently undulating Mitchell, Flinders and Buffel grass open downs country that is having a mixed season. Approx one third is a light season, one third is average and the balance is very good. The property is lightly stocked with only 126 head presently running on it, therefor the pasture has had a chance to grow in this light rainfall season. In an average season there would be around 1200 head running here but 750 to 800 backgrounders or 500 breeders would be plenty for the balance of this year.
There are three sub- artesian bores all with submersible pumps down the hole and all are connected to rural power. One was put down in 1985 (137 metres deep and a supply of 880 gals per hour) and the other two were drilled in 2001 (224 metres deep and a supply of 1,300 gals per hour) and 2002 (206 metres deep and a supply of 900 gals per hour). The bore water is pumped into 5 turkey nests and is then gravity fed to 2 poly tanks and 9 troughs. The power line crosses through the property and the Bude road runs along the southern boundary. There are three dams and season waterholes along the Darr river.
There is a very good set of steel cattle yards complete with crush and calf cradle. The working area is under cover and water is to the yards. There are several cooler yards with water. The boundary is good stock proof fencing with two sides being dual purpose sheep/cattle fencing. The internal fencing is mostly good stock proof three barb. There are three paddocks and one holding paddock at the yards. There is no other buildings on the property. There is an additional area of approximately 785 ac of stock route that can be grazed.
Westward Ho is well positioned half way between Winton and Longreach and approximately 4 km from the boundary to the Kennedy Developmental Highway. The property is a very low maintenance, easy care, backgrounding or fattening property that can be run from away.
Vendor is firm on the asking price of $165 per acre bare.
