Location: Tonkoro is located approximately 245km south of Winton on the Winton-Jundah Road & 240km south-west of Longreach.
Facilities/Services: The property is powered by a 20 kva solar system with a backup 15 kva diesel power plant. Tonkoro has telephone, satellite internet and a twice weekly mail service. Winton and Longreach offer complete schooling, prep to year 12. The Longreach School of Distance Education is prep to year 10. Local facilities in the towns of Winton & Longreach include an Early Childhood Centre, Hospital, Police Station, Post Office, Grocery Stores and Library. Recreational activities include swimming pools, race courses, golf courses as well as various sporting clubs.
Commercial air services are available twice weekly from Winton and daily from Longreach. Cattle sales are held on a regular basis in Blackall, while both Winton & Longreach have saleyards and livestock rail trucking facilities.

Country: There is approximately 10,650 hectares of semi open soft Mulga country which is interspersed with channels and open bluebush swamps with around 75,150 ha of soft edible Mulga woodlands. The balance of the country is best described as stony Mulga timbered country that provides the water runoff to flood out the numerous channel systems with the main ones being Farrahs Creek, Middle Creek, New Year Creek and Palaparara Creek.
Waters: There are 18 bores or wells on Tonkoro, including 8 bores that were recently drilled. They are equipped with solar pumps, tanks and troughs. There are 18 dams of which many have been cleaned out recently. There are two older 90,000 litre poly lined storage tanks as well as five new 135,000 litre poly lined tanks that have been installed within the past month.
Fencing & Yards: Over the past seven years, there has been approximately 65km of new boundary fence erected. The balance of the boundary fence is in fair to good stock proof condition. The majority of the internal fencing is in good stock proof condition. There is approximately 25km of laneway with holding squares that link some of the outside paddocks to the second set of steel cattle yards and the main yards at the Tonkoro homestead complex. There are 8 main paddocks and 8 holding paddocks that include new coolers and trap yard.
The homestead yards have almost had a complete rebuild with a new internal pound draft, loading ramp and a double decker catwalk for access to double decker trailers while loading. New tanks and troughs have been installed and the working areas have been fully shaded. The yards in Spell Paddock have had a major rebuild in the working area and new cooler yards added.

Buildings: There are two houses, a meathouse and two sets of staff quarters on Tonkoro as well as molasses storage tanks. Two steel frame sheds have recently been erected – 12.5M x 30M large enough to fit a road train and a 13M x 25M machinery/helicopter shed that is fully concreted, with a helicopter pad out the front.
Agents Remarks: Tonkoro is considered a safe, low cost operation that has large areas of edible Mulga and the added fattening ability of the channels and bluebush swamp areas. It can be used as a consistent breeder property or a great backgrounding depot with potential for Organic status as well as the possibility of a large scale carbon project if desired. There has been considerable capital expenditure on Tonkoro over the last couple of years setting it up for the future. Tonkoro has consistently carried 4,500 breeders in recent years.
